When I was small, my greatmother would tell me stories late at night. As I grew, I learned them from her, and told them in turn to my sister.

[she pauses, thinking through theses times. simpler, happier days.]

None were quite so morbid and bloody as what I - what we - saw in our dreams this time.

The tower brings these things; is there a way to stop the tower from coming closer?

[another pause. in the background the ghoul whines a little.]

Ah - yes - I apologize for my....pet zombie.

[fffff.]

Do not be frightened of him if he approaches you. He means no harm.

[a little wry.]

Although, if you do see him carrying my little speaking device...see if you could discourage him from it. He seems to like it.

[and as she goes to turn off the communicator, under her breath;]

Some would perhaps consider it horrifying, but I found it beautiful...the land was ripped apart by the opening of the portals. Literally. Pieces of earth would just float about....
